We have been learning about the mindset necessary to be successful. The students are learning the difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset and how they can change their intelligence by learning from their mistakes.
There will be a test on Friday on this subject matter. Students who missed any days should view the videos found on my blog.

We have started keyboarding basics. Students are learning about proper ergonomics and about all the keys on the QWERTY keyboard. We watched a video today on keyboarding basics today. If your student missed it, they should view the video under my video link.
We will have a test on Monday on the theory of keyboarding. Students will begin practical keyboard lessons this week where they will shoot to learn to keyboard without looking at their keyboards quickly and accurately. Well, it has been a little crazy start to our new nine weeks between snow/ice days and now today a holiday! for the short time that I have seen your children so far, it has been exciting and refreshing!
We have been working on introductions, going over classroom policies and procedures and the students have gotten a high level overview of what the class entails. We will do 90% of our work on the computers in my class utilizing a learning management system called Schoology. Students were set up on the system and they can access from anywhere they have internet access as it is web based. Students were given a Schoology Code of Conduct that parents should have already read over and signed by now. If your child has not gotten you to sign this or they seemed to have lost it, please go to my forms and print one out. This is an easy A for my class. Students are required to follow this Code of Conduct when using Schoology or the consequence will be to lose computer priviledges and all classwork will have to be done manually. Class syllabus will be given to students this coming week for your review and signature. This can also be found on my Forms tab. This will also count for an easy A. It needs to be signed and returned for credit. |
