With the early release schedule, we did not meet today.
Students began drafting their inital budgets applying the knowledge they acquired last week on income and expenses.
We played a Kahoot today to continue reviewing the concepts that we learned about last week regarding income and expenses. We also took a unit test today on the material. Many of the students did not do as well as they expected. I will allow all students to re-test on Friday, after we re-address areas where there seems to be some misunderstanding. Students should be aware, that I will only allow one re-test opportunity for this test and they should do their best this week to focus and stay engaged with the lessons.
We continued our discussion on expenses. Students were given examples of fixed versus variable expenses. We reviewed insurance and how to manage risk, buying versus elasing a car, needs versus wants, and how prices are set and how coupons work. We also looked generally at various investment options such as stocks, bonds, real estate and savings accounts. We played a Kahoot to review the information delivered over the last few days. Students may have a quiz on the information reviewed today on Monday and were told that today.
We continued our discussion of income and expenses today. We hope to begin the budgeting process tomorrow.
We began our review of the Biz Bucks Game today. Students learned about how they can earn income in the game and we had discussions about gross versus net pay, taxes, budgeting, and fixed versus variable expenses.
Students took a learning style assessment today, completed an interest survey and played a Kahoot on Financial Literacy.
Students checked their emails for messages from me regarding work I graded. We also played a Kahoot to introduce Financial Literacy. We will do again since so many students were absent due to the Solar Eclipse.
Students had an organizational culture article to read, dicuss with a partner and then submit an assignment related to the article.
