1st Period - Students were shown how they could get to Forms on this blog if they have misplaced their code of conduct and their syllabus.
We played two Kahoots today. One was an overview of keyboarding vocabulary and related concepts. The other was related to proper finger placement and the keys on the keyboard. 2nd Period - We did not meet due to early release. What we have covered so far:
Schoology Code of Conduct - parents and students should read and sign; turn in for a grade Syllabus - parents and students should read and sign; turn in for a grade Learning Assessment Survey - determines how students learn best Interest Survey - helps me understand and get to know your student Download, Save and Submit in Schoology - this is how 95% of student work will be received by me and graded Typing.com Set Up - the program students will use to practice keyboarding skills throughout the nine weeks Due to early release, 1st period did not meet today.
In 2nd period, students were able to sign up for typing.com and some students were able to take a baseline one minute and three minute typing test. Students also were shown how to submit their work in Schoology. Students took a learning style assessment today to help me understand how they learn best. Students were also given a class syllabus. They need to return it tomorrow signed for a grade. If another copy is needed, please go to Forms on this website.
Students were set up today on our Learning Management System, Schoology. They were also given a Code of Coduct that they must sign and have parents sign. They should return the signed portion to me for an easy 100. If students lose their copy, they can go to my forms page on this website and print a new one.
We also reviewed procedures and rules today as well as they complete their first warm up on Schoology today. We spent our class period getting to know each other, going over rules and procedures and a little overview of the class today.
Today was our last class meeting today. Students took their unit test today on Mindset for Success.
Students also started an exercise called Reality Check today which allowed them to choose a lifestyle and then based on the lifestyle they wanted, a hourly wage, weekly wage and yearly salary were computed. The reality check also let them know what occupations matched the computed wages. Picture day tomorrow! Students will receive a new class schedule on Monday in their home rooms. We spent the class period reviewing for the test and ran out of time as several students still had questions regarding the material. We will test tomorrow, first thing. It will be our last class meeting for the nine weeks. Friday is picture day and we will not be meeting as a class. Students will have new connections classes beginning Monday. It was a pleasure to get to know and teach your children!
We played several Kahoots today to review for our upcoming test tomorrow.
